It’s time for the annual Notice of Election for members of the Board of Directors for the Kansas City Blues Society (KCBS). This is a call for Blues lovers to step up and provide support to this wonderful organization. Besides the fulfillment you’ll experience in supporting the blues in Kansas City, being on the Board is fun! The organization is on an exciting trajectory in fulfilling our mission of promoting and preserving blues music. We do this through:
- monthly meetings/jams at local venues;
- partnering with venues to promote shows featuring local and national musicians;
- sponsoring the “Road to Memphis,” KCBS’ local challenge to find a band and solo/duo artist to represent Kansas City in Memphis at the International Blues Challenge;
- presenting the annual Women in Blues show featuring women-led bands;
- bringing you our signature show, Blues in the Bottoms, with national and local musicians;
- and administering the Michael Shannon Musicians Fund, which supports Blues musicians experiencing financial hardships due to medical issues.
There is an excellent, hardworking BOD already in place to help make any transitions easy.
