Care to Share Sharing Bucket

FortFest ’24

Now in its 3rd year, this FREE Blues festival is a rapid up-and-comer. Only 90 minutes from North KC and barely an hour from 435 & Metcalf, FortFest offers a great lineup in a beautiful shaded park. There are plenty of food vendors and there are drink vendors as well as BYOB.

KCBS Board Member Cory Bryars organizes the event as a Fundraiser for a grassroots cancer charity called Care to Share. Here is a little info about Care to Share – maybe you’ll choose to make a freewill donation once you read about their mission. Donation or not, we sure hope to see you at the KCBS booth at FortFest24. Get all the event details here!

Who is Care to Share?
Established in 2007 and raising funds since 2009, Care to Share is a 501c3 organization that has received over $1.4 million in grassroots giving from communities in Bourbon County, Crawford County, Linn County, and beyond.

With a 100% Volunteer staff, that means $1.4 million has gone to friends and families to help weather their cancer journeys as gracefully as possible.

In 2022 alone, Care to Share provided $97,137.89 in gasoline needs and other personal concerns and for total return to our communities, add to that thousands of hours providing sunshine visits, rides, meals, chores, and even rent and utility payments.

Care to Share tailors their support to each individual’s cancer journey with help from the Sharing Bucket

What is the Sharing Bucket?
The Sharing bucket is at the core of our mission. You will see Sharing Buckets around the festival and around Fort Scott and other towns in our Southeast Kansas (SEK) Support area. Through the years, one drop in the bucket at a time, our communities have given to their friends and families and neighbors.

Every part of the Sharing Bucket has meaning:

We put together FortFest to give back to our communities and offer a day of fun and uplifting music for our cancer fighters. We can only do this thru the unwavering support of countless businesses and individuals. Please support the businesses on our Sponsor banners.

And if You Care to Share, it’s a great day to donate.
