Coyote Bill with young musicians

Coyote Bill: A Mission to Develop Youth Musicians

The KCBS appreciates and supports Bill Bartelt’s mission to develop youth musicians in the Kansas City metro area. Bill is holding Youth Jams and has an open invitation to any young musician to join him at these jams. He invites seasoned musicians to join in and assist with their development. He has been holding jams at different venues but expects to settle at The Hideout Bar & Grill in Gladstone, MO, for a monthly Saturday afternoon jam. The KCBS is setting aside the first 20-25 minutes of their monthly jams for youth musicians to perform  with the jam hosts.

Drummer Clayton Marsh, 13, of Leavenworth, KS, and guitarist Brook Burns, 13, of Kansas City, KS, came out and jammed with the Nic Olas band at the June monthly meeting/jam, and a good time was had by all. We enjoyed their enthusiasm and fearlessness in jamming with the “seasoned” musicians.

At Bill’s Youth Jam on Saturday, June 28, at the Hideout Bar & Grill, he was joined by Jack (Hatchet Jack) Kenyon of Kansas City, MO, who is a 14-year old guitarist and vocalist, and Amelia Presslor, a 14-year-old drummer from Lansing, KS. Clayton and Brook also came out. Scottyboy Daniels and Adam Burress were on hand helping.

We applaud these young musicians and hope to see them on a stage sometime soon.
