Stone Cutter’s Union will be doing fundraiser shows to help cover costs of representing Kansas City at the International Blues Challenge 2022 in Memphis.

On Thursday, December 2, they will play their LAST show at the Westport Saloon (it is closing at the end of the year). Show time is 7pm.

On Friday, December 10, they’ll be at BB’s Lawnside BBQ. Show starts at 7pm.

Come on out and represent, Kansas City blues lovers!

The universe is a mysterious and ever expanding plane of wonder, one that humans must look upon with awe and realize that it is not possible for all things to be known. And so it is with the band known as Stone Cutters Union. While not actual stone workers, they do shape raw, naturally occurring materials into a veritable cornucopia for the senses. Some researchers have speculated on how these 5 seemingly ordinary humans can harness the sounds of blues, soul, funk, and rock into an aural experience that transcends any one genre. None of this speculation has resulted in a published peer review paper. Allegations of population booms 9 months after Stone Cutters Union shows are urban legend and hearsay. Communication from the band is cryptic and full of prophesy. Recent reports of “faces being melted at shows” have met with the following statement from the band: “Audience members bear sole responsibility for biological reactions to our music including but not limited to accelerated heart rates, body movements originating in the pelvis area that result in dancing, prolonged goose bumps, uncontrollable hooting and/or fist pumping, and faces being melted. The musicians, their management, crew, associates, and venue owners cannot be held liable.” The plethora of emotions and reactions in the wake of these performances range from elation to giddiness to an overall improved sense of well being. Notable absent in these reports is the notion of being bummed out. It’s said that the band waits for those who are looking for a good time, waits to be summoned forth like eldritch funk gods who love you and want you to have a good time.

More shows will be announced for January.

If you can’t make a show, please consider making a donation to the band through our website. Visit the Donate page and indicate your donation to Stone Cutter’s Union in the Order Notes when you check out.
